Frequently Asked Questions

This chapter answers the questions that come up again and again with an attendance system: a forgotten password, a disabled system, a notice about an old version, a wrong time, and how to contact support.

I forgot my password

The sign-in page has no “Forgot password” link. An administrator sets the password for you:

  1. The administrator opens Admin → Employees and selects your profile.
  2. Next to the “New password” field, they click the button with the refresh and envelope icons.
  3. The system creates a new eight-character password and emails it to you. Your profile must have an email address filled in. If it does not, the administrator sets the password by hand in the “New password” field.
  4. After you sign in, change the password in the menu with your name → Profile.

If the only administrator forgot their password, contact support (see below). We recommend having at least two administrators.

I see “System disabled!”

The message means that your system has been disabled by the provider. An ended licence is reported by a different message, “The licence has expired”, see below. The system is not shown and nobody can sign in. Contact support. After it is unblocked, the system works the same as before, and your data is kept.

I see “The licence has expired”

The paid licence of your system has ended and the system is blocked until you renew it. Write to the operator at [email protected]. After the renewal the system works the same as before, and your data is kept. The details are in the Administration chapter, section Changing the licence.

An employee has left but can still sign in

The state “Former” only hides the tile on the kiosk. To prevent the employee from signing in, remove their login or password in their profile.

I see “You are using an outdated version”

A yellow bar above the tiles says you are running an older version than the latest available. The system keeps working. The bar has a “here” link that opens an email requesting an update. Send it and support will update you. The “see changelist” link opens a website describing what is new. The bar appears only on the main screen.

The time on the kiosk or in a card is wrong

The system records the server time, not the time of your computer or phone. If the time is off, for example by an hour at the switch to daylight saving time, you can correct the arrival in the card (Attendance Cards chapter). Report a lasting error to support.

The arrival was recorded with a different time than I expected

Check the attendance card. You can correct both the arrival and the leave time, and the change is recorded in History. If “Card editable by boss only” is on, ask your manager.

I forgot to leave work

The next day your tile on the kiosk is red with an exclamation mark. Tap it to open the card and fill in the leave time. On a phone, you enter the time in the field shown.

Another employee's tile is gray

You may tap only your own tile; a manager may also tap their subordinates' tiles, and an administrator everyone's. The kiosk (type Dummy) may tap all of them.

The kiosk signed itself out

A kiosk signed in with the permanent sign-in link signs in again with that link after being signed out. If the link has changed, copy the new one from the kiosk employee's profile (Kiosk chapter).

How to contact support

By email at [email protected]. In the message, give the address of your system (for example your-company.attendees.eu), your name and a description of the problem. Add what you were doing and a screenshot.

Where to find help

In the top bar, the menu System → Help opens the website www.attendees.eu. You find the version number in the same menu.
